An oasis of peace and a historical gem of the area, we are pleased to offer this property, situated 20 minutes south of Bath, as your base for your special party. Perfect for hen parties, family celebrations, friend’s get-togethers and club dinners.
This ancient, charming, tranquil and yet convenient building has got everything to provide you with an unforgettable stay. The bedrooms can sleep up to 18 people and a sofa bed in one of the lounges can be used to sleep an additional couple.

Situated just 20 minutes from Bath, Wells and Glastonbury this Grade II* property is reputed to be one of the oldest houses in Somerset, with records showing that it was first established in 1170.
The house retains many original architectural features, including large inglenook fireplaces, flagstone floors and original oak beamed ceilings.
The ancient honeyed stonework and a beautiful walled garden, bursting with colour in the summer months, greet you upon entering the gravelled driveway.
Curved flights of stairs lead to heavy iron studded doors opening to beautifully furnished rooms many with original ceiling beams. The bedrooms share a style which reflects the charm and atmosphere of the old, combining with the comfort and convenience of modern day living. Each room is equipped with en-suite facilities and contemporary touches such as flat screen televisions.
There are two lounges, both with old fireplaces, one for sitting and talking and one with a large screen television.
The stone floored dining rooms can cater for up to 20 people, offering an intimate and private environment for sit-down or buffet dinners of both a formal or relaxed nature.
Wedding Receptions
The delightful ambience of this house is a wonderful setting for a wedding with the church tower in the background and the manicured green lawns of the grounds.
We are able to erect marquees on the lawn with the capacity to accommodate up to 100 seated wedding guests. And up to 160 for a buffet style/evening function. We have established strong relationships with a variety of suppliers enabling you to choose from a superb selection of marquees ranging from the simple and tasteful to the spectacular and luxurious to create the perfect atmosphere for your great day.
The house and all the grounds can be booked for your exclusive use for the duration of your wedding. With a delightful church literally just a stone’s throw away, it is possible to host your whole day in virtually one location (the nearest Registry Office is located in the town hall which is just two minutes walk away.)
As your guests sip champagne and with confetti still fluttering on the drive, you can enjoy the lovely afternoon safe in the knowledge that your most important guests only have to amble a few yards to the traditional comforts of their bedrooms.
No stress and no fuss will only add an extra dimension to your day as you and your guests celebrate in the most tranquil of atmospheres.

This is the perfect place for a family party – though you do need to be aware that some of the rooms have steps and may not be ideal for older visitors. But if you want a warm welcome, this is the place for you. We were really well looked after during our stay. I hope to return!
The accommodation was lovely, comfortable and clean. The gardens were beautiful and it was a shame it was raining as it would have been lovely to sit there with a glass of wine at night and play croquet by floodlight! The owner was extremely helpful and polite, and was very friendly.
Fantastic. The owner is a perfect hostess – nothing is too much bother for her – she made our stay wonderful. The rooms are amazing – all unique – very unusual. Thank you for making us so welcome.
We visited for my partner’s 50th and I was completely made up that we did. The effusive, warm welcome from the owners involved a well directed steer to the beautiful walled garden for a couple of drinks and a bask in the stunning surroundings.
Okay, it’s a cliché but this place is a complete oasis. Frankly, we could have been a million miles away from the town itself – it is a stunning property. Blue lias flags, a huge inglenook, ancient fireplaces and creaks and eccentricities with every step you take. Gloriously comfortable. Nothing was too much for our hosts and the whole experience was an absolute credit to them. Loved it…
We had a family reunion here and had a wonderful weekend. The staff are very welcoming and cannot do enough for you, there is a relaxed atmosphere. Recommended to anyone.
